Do you, Mind?
"The human brain has 100 billion neurons, each neuron connected to 10 thousand other neurons. Sitting on your shoulders is the most complicated object in the known universe.". -Michio Kaku
What is the brain? Is it the same thing as your mind? Physically, I know that it is something found in our skulls. Does it function like a filing cabinet or a computer? Can you work it out like a muscle? What causes memory loss or lowered brain function? Are our memories 100% correct or do we remember just enough to tell a decent story? Is your personality or your soul stored in there?
I have really been thinking about my brain, over the past 20 or so years. There were times, in my past, when it didn't feel like my brain worked properly. I still have days like that. Concentration and memory are 2 things that are usually my focus. (Get it? Concentration/focus)
It's very difficult to stay focused, on the regular. I've never officially been diagnosed with anything that is related to ADD/ADHD...but there may be a chance. My mind wanders constantly. I feel like I have one or more of these: forgetfulness, absent-mindedness, short attention span, difficulty focusing and a problem with paying attention.
I also struggle greatly with memory issues. It is truly frustrating and disheartening. My short term doesn't work like I would like it to. I can remember songs or movie lines from 30 years ago, but I mix up my 2 daughters names. I rely heavily on calendars and alarms to help me to remember when I have to do anything. Everyone around seems to be able to remember what they need to do on a daily basis. I don't have that luxury.
As I write this, I wanted to look something up...but totally blanked on what I was doing. Ugh.
Mind...would you mind if we got separated for a while? I need to sort some things out...while you figure out how to straighten yourself out. Maybe we can work it out in the near future.
